The First Congress of the Zhangqiu District Science and Technology Association was successfully held.

On August 14, 2020, the First Congress of the Science and Technology Association of Zhangqiu District was successfully held at the District Party Committee’s Party School. The congress reviewed and summarized the association’s work over recent years, clearly defined the goals and key tasks for the next five years, and elected the first committee of the Zhangqiu District Science and Technology Association. It called upon all science and technology workers across the district to remain true to their original aspirations, keep their mission firmly in mind, forge ahead in the new era, and make fresh contributions, thereby pooling their wisdom and strength to accelerate Zhangqiu’s vigorous rise and play a leading role in innovation-driven development for the provincial capital. Meng Xuefeng, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; Chai Qide, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Congress; Jiang Qi, Deputy District Mayor; and Han Jun, Vice Chairman of the District Political Consultative Conference, attended the congress to offer their congratulations. Lu Lailiang, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jinan Science and Technology Association, was invited to attend the opening ceremony. Nearly 130 representatives from various sectors across the district participated in the congress. Lu Lailiang, on behalf of the Jinan Science and Technology Association, extended his congratulations on the convening of the congress. He pointed out that in recent years, under the strong leadership of the District Party Committee and District Government and with the robust support of all sectors of society, the Zhangqiu District Science and Technology Association has consistently focused on the central tasks and served the overall situation, conscientiously fulfilling its “four services” responsibilities. It has united and guided science and technology workers throughout the district to actively engage in the main battlefield of economic development and the new practice of transforming old and new growth drivers, achieving remarkable results through extensive and effective efforts. First, it has achieved significant outcomes in serving innovation-driven development. Adhering to the principle of “flexible introduction” of talent, the association has accelerated the establishment of academician and expert workstations, having now set up 10 academician workstations and 6 expert workstations. It has also helped achieve new breakthroughs in rural revitalization efforts. The “Science and Technology Small Courtyard” project—established around the concepts of “science popularization base, talent hub, and demonstration base”—has been recognized by the Provincial Science and Technology Association and selected as a flagship reform project. The inauguration ceremony of Zhangqiu’s first “Science and Technology Small Courtyard,” along with its science education base experience event, was honored as an outstanding activity during the 2019 National Science Day in Shandong Province and received commendation from the Provincial Science and Technology Association. Second, its science popularization brand initiatives have taken the lead among science and technology associations in the city, province, and even nationwide. It has organized three consecutive “Science Photography Contests” and participated in the Provincial Science and Technology Association’s science popularization creation contest, ranking among the top in the province in both quantity and quality of awards received, earning the Provincial Outstanding Organization Award. Third, its ability to connect with and serve science and technology workers has continuously improved. The association has established a system for district-level association leaders to closely engage with grassroots science and technology workers, and the methods and means by which the association serves these workers have become increasingly diversified. The coverage of grassroots science and technology associations and related work has continued to expand, enhancing the cohesion and influence of the association. Meng Xuefeng, on behalf of the District Party Committee and District Government, expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the congress and extended sincere greetings and high respect to all delegates and science and technology workers who have worked diligently on all fronts across the district. The congress adopted the work report titled “Strengthening Mission Responsibility, Serving Innovative Development, and Uniting and Leading All Science and Technology Workers to Strive for Zhangqiu’s Vigorous Rise and Play a Leading Role in Innovation-Driven Development for the Provincial Capital,” presented to the congress by Dong Kuan, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Zhangqiu District Science and Technology Association.
